Ahead of the March 18 gubernatorial election, the leadership of intercommunity and interfaith members living in Enugu State have directed their members to vote for Dr. Peter Mbah, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, insisting their decision taken after critical examination of all the candidates.

The group said this on Friday in Enugu at a brief meeting it held with the PDP governorship, noting that their interest was on who has the capacity, competence, character and excellent track records to transform the state.

The intercommunity and interfaith group was drawn from Yoruba, Idoma, Fulani, Hausa, Igala, Christian and Muslim people living across the state.

According to the leaders of the group, it is only Mbah, whom they described as a cosmopolitan and global citizen, that can restore the state to its glory through his developmental programmes and blueprint for the people.

The president of the group, Engr. Lawal Yusuf Omotowo, said they had looked at the different governorship candidates, studied their backgrounds and found Mbah exceptional with the needed skills, leadership qualities and solutions for the socio-economic challenges facing the state.

The Seriki Hausawa, Alhaji Suleiman Haruna, commended Mbah for his good works and philanthropic gestures long before conceiving the governorship ambition, saying they would vote for him to do more for their people.

The Seriki Sango of Ugwuoba, while urging the governorship candidate to remember integrating their people, promised that they’d queue behind him at the polls.

The host, the former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Dubem Onyia, while commending Mbah over his mission for the state, prayed that God would grant him victory.

He added that the state needed a technocrat and business mogul to change the narrative of the state.

Reacting to the assurances, the governorship hopeful expressed appreciation to the people, stressing that he would work hard to create a conducive environment for both indigenes and non indigenous to thrive.

According to him, his administration, if elected, would not discriminate based on state of origin as everyone would feel at home in the state.

“Enugu State is the headquarters of the former Eastern Region of Nigeria, and is still the headquarters of the South East, and we want to maintain that status. We want to show we are truly a cosmopolitan state.

“We’ll create the environment for you to do your business and even expand because I’m also a businessman who understands your pains,” he added.

Mbah urged the people, including the entire state to see him as the best in terms of ability to deliver, competence, capacity, character, and outstanding entrepreneurial career outside politics.

He further enjoined them to vote for him so that the state would have cause to develop exponentially, with clean environment, booming economic growth and unprecedented industrial revolution.
