The Peter Mbah Campaign Organisation has announced the winners of the campaign jingles competition it organised between August and September this year, saying that the 168 submissions went through a transparent selection process.
Presenting the cash prizes to the winners on behalf of Dr. Peter Mbah in Enugu on Tuesday, the head of the media office, Dan Nwomeh said the first prize of N500,000 was won by Kelechi Obeta who goes by the stage name, Kelycool, while Chunwike Ukuta, also known as Pincode came second with N300,000. For the third prize of N200,000, Nwomeh said the screening committee recommended a tie between Ejike Okonu and Blessing Edeh, adding that as a result, both of them would smile home with N200,000 each.
“The jingle challenge is perfectly in line with Dr. Mbah’s ambitious programme of promoting the creative industry in the State and repositioning the Coal City as the main hub of music and film production in the country,” Nwomeh said.
He said that out of his love for hard work, talent and creative ingenuity, Dr. Mbah further approved a consolation prize of N100,000 each for extra 9 participants whose jingles were equally scored high by the screening committee, amounting to total cash prizes of N1.9 Million.
Speaking on behalf of the winners, Ejike Okonu whose three jingles made the top ten, expressed appreciation to Dr. Mbah for his large-heart and special interest in the creatives, saying in his years of producing jingles this was his most generous financial reward.
“As a professional jingle producer, I am excited to have emerged as one of the winners of the Peter Mbah Jingle Challenge. I thank Dr. Peter Mbah for an opportunity like this that encourages talent and creativity in the state. This is the highest financial reward I have received for a jingle production,” he said.
The winners were later presented to Dr. Mbah at his residence in Enugu where he shared some moments with them.
