Gentlemen of the press,
Ladies and gentlemen.
The process we have just witnessed here today represents the true essence of our democracy. It is an affirmation of the founding principle of our great party which is built on the current process we have witnessed here, the democratic tenets.
I want to express my profound gratitude to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Gburugburu the Great. The success of what we are witnessing here today was enhanced by this believer of democracy. Posterity indeed will reserve a noble seat for you when the history of this state is written.
I also want to thank His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, for the fatherly role he has played in our consultation process. Jim, as he is fondly called, continues to remind us that this is a brotherly affair and this is what we are witnessing here today.
I also want to thank my co- aspirants, my co-travellers, those who ceded their ambitions for me. Those who asserted from the onset that they were going to support me. Indeed, we believe that we are all equally qualified and able, capable to lead our state. I want to thank them very much.
In accepting to serve you as your flag bearer, the flag bearer of our great party in the governorship election of 2023, I want to promise you that I will serve you with humility and moderation. We are going to serve you with openness and inclusiveness. We are going to serve you with simplicity and forthrightness. We are going to sustain and build on the achievements of the current administration. We are also going to be seeking your support so that we can finish what we have just started here, today. We are going to be working together across all the areas.
It is our vision that we are going to be able to transform our state and make our state one of the greatest and the top states in this country, with your support.
Finally, as you all know, what we have done here today represents more of a celebration than competition. So this is not a day for speeches. This is not a day to talk about our programme. We are going to only be thanking and recognising all those who have made this process a success. The panel, they came from Abuja to organise, monitor and observe what we have done here. We can see that this is devoid of rancour and manipulation.
This is indeed the bedrock. This is what our democracy is founded upon.
I want to thank all the delegates. This is indeed their victory. The sacrifices they have made to bring us thus far. I want to thank them specially. I also want to thank the State PDP Exco for steadiily steering the affairs of our party seamlessly.
The list is endless, I cannot thank you all enough but I really do feel honoured at the show of support and I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for the honour you have done to me today. Thank you.
I will not conclude without thanking the INEC officials, the security agencies that are here who made this process and the entire programme, seamless. I want to thank them. And of course those at the fourth estate of the realm, the media, we will not forget you. I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you.
May God indeed bless Enugu State. May God bless Ndi Enugu.
